Built where no Route would carry the sound
The Block
DJ Kool Herc works two turntables at a back-to-school party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, stretching the breaks. It is widely cited as the birth of hip hop — talent was already there; the way to carry it had to be built.
Own the Route
Talent is everywhere; distribution is captured. The answer then was the same as now — when no one will carry your sound, you build the Route yourself, and keep it in the community's hands.
The Anniversary
Fifty-three years on, we mark hip hop's anniversary in that tradition — a new block party where the Route is member-owned. Rosetta Stoned is the first Name this network is built to remember.
In the tradition of Aug 11, 1973 — an anniversary we observe, not a lineage we claim.
53rd Anniversary of Hip Hop
A free community celebration — live performance by Rosetta Stoned and a lineup of hip hop artists. Covert Café, Portland OR. Presented by PDX.Show.
Code by day, bars by night
Mental Stamina is a futurist, engineer, artist, and revolutionary from Washington, DC. His music blends conscious lyricism with raw energy — resilience, identity, and the intersection of technology and culture. Equal parts builder and creator, he bridges the gap between code and culture: writing software by day and writing bars by night.
That bridge became a blueprint. Talent is everywhere; distribution is captured — so he is building the Route himself, in the tradition of the block parties that started it all (an anniversary we observe, not a lineage we claim). The Hip Hop World is that Route: member-owned, playable, and built so every artist after him has a way to be carried.
The first artist the world carries
Mental Stamina is the prototype for how the Hip Hop World supports artists. Every mechanic that will carry the next artist is being proven on this catalog first: follow him, play the songs, share them, and leave comments — the world helps finish the songs, and the same loop then belongs to every artist who claims a profile.
The albums above are works in progress — the launch catalog of the Hip Hop Hero game and the raw material of the world itself. Preview them here and on Bandcamp today; they keep evolving, and the final versions release through the Hip Hop World, shaped by how the world plays them.
The first release drops with the world
The 53rd Anniversary of Hip Hop launch party — Aug 11 at Covert Café, Portland — marks the start of releasing this catalog through the Hip Hop World.
One world, many fronts
Hip Hop Hero
The rhythm game at the center of the world — these works-in-progress are its launch catalog. Every run is a first listen.
Intergalactic Charity
The art-based non-profit he serves as president. The Hip Hop World supports this charity — benefit shows and community events flow toward its mission.
1vsM
The software and business behind the Hip Hop World — the engineering half of code by day, bars by night.
The world is being built. Be in it.
