Hip Hop World · Annual Program
The 8/11 Program
Every August 11 — the anniversary of hip hop — Hip Hop World runs an annual program to celebrate the culture. This page is the year-round home for that program: what it is, how to get involved, and how to sign up.
No experience required — just care about the culture.

The very first edition of the 8/11 program is the Hip Hop World Launch Party · 53rd Anniversary of Hip Hop — Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Covert Café, 803 SE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR. Free admission.
The 11th is the whole program — the day itself is the point, so an afternoon set counts as much as a midnight one. Every year, the same date: whatever you are already throwing, put it on the map and it stands beside every other event happening that day, anywhere in the world.
Free, no account needed — anywhere in the world. See who’s in

Sponsor the program
Sponsorship pays for the floor, never the ceiling — it raises how many people can take part, and never decides who does. No sponsor gets a say in who hosts or who performs.
-
Presenting
Your name on the global program and the map, everywhere the day is listed.
-
Regional
Your name on one region’s slate, and you fund the host kits that ship there.
-
Supply
You fund the kit itself — sound, printing, merch. Paid to the vendor, shipped to hosts.
-
Matched
We introduce you directly to an event that wants a sponsor. You pay them, not us.
Check the sponsor box on the signup form below and we’ll follow up.
We contribute to costs — sound, venue, gear, printing — and pay vendors directly. We do not pay hosts, and no money moves through this site.
